READY, STEADY, SCHOOL!
School Readiness at Brightkidz
At BrightKidz, we understand that starting school is a big milestone — for both children and their families. That’s why we’ve developed a carefully planned Ready, Steady, School transition to help our preschoolers feel confident, capable and excited for their next chapter.
Our approach gently builds the skills, routines and attitudes children need to make a smooth and successful transition into primary school. Through a mix of play-based learning, structured group activities and real-life experiences, we support your child’s social, emotional and academic development in a fun, nurturing way.

WORKING WITH PARENTS
At BrightKidz, we believe strong partnerships with parents are key to a child’s development. We keep communication open with daily feedback, regular updates and parent meetings, so you always feel informed and involved in your child’s progress.
We also invite families to take part in special events, stay-and-play sessions, and celebrations throughout the year — building a warm, supportive community where children feel secure and valued both at home and in nursery.
Together, we create the best start for your child.

GIVING CHILDREN THE BEST START
At BrightKidz, we create a safe, caring and inspiring environment where children grow in confidence, independence and curiosity. Our experienced team supports each child’s unique journey through a balance of play, structured learning and nurturing relationships.
We focus on developing the whole child — socially, emotionally, physically and academically — giving them the strong foundations they need for school and beyond. With rich activities, loving care and strong routines, we give every child the best possible start in life.
WHAT OUR SCHOOL READINESS PROGRAMME INCLUDES:
01
Communication & Confidence
We encourage children to express their ideas, ask questions, and engage in conversations. Group time, storytelling, show-and-tell and role play help build listening, speaking and turn-taking skills — essential for the classroom.
02
Independence & Self-Care
Children are guided to manage tasks independently, such as dressing, toileting, washing hands, and looking after their belongings. These routines boost self-esteem and prepare them for a more structured school day.
03
Social Skills & Group Work
We focus on cooperation, sharing, following instructions, and respecting others. Small group projects and partner activities help children build friendships and understand how to work as part of a team.
04
Early Literacy & Numeracy
Children engage in age-appropriate pre-reading, phonics, mark-making, number recognition and counting activities. These sessions build strong foundations for learning without pressure — making school exciting, not overwhelming.
05
Routine & Structure
We introduce school-like routines gradually, such as sitting in small groups, joining group discussions, and understanding “what’s next” in their day. This familiarity helps children feel secure when they transition to school.
06
Transition Support & Celebrations
We talk positively about school, read books about starting school, and involve children in discussions about their new adventures ahead. We also celebrate the end of their nursery journey with graduation events, photos and school leavers’ activities that make the transition special.
