CURRICULUM & EYFS
Our Mission
At BrightKidz Preschool, our mission is to provide a safe, stimulating, and caring “home from home” environment where every child feels valued, supported, and inspired to grow. We are committed to delivering high-quality early years education that nurtures the whole child — emotionally, socially, physically and intellectually — through play, exploration, and hands-on experiences. Guided by the EYFS and Birth to 5 Matters frameworks, we tailor learning to each child’s unique needs and celebrate every achievement, big or small.
We believe in promoting equality, celebrating diversity, and building strong partnerships with families. Our goal is to help every child develop confidence, independence, and a lifelong love of learning in a setting where they truly feel like part of the BrightKidz family.
CURRICULUM & EYFS
Curriculum
At BrightKidz Preschool, we offer a dynamic and engaging curriculum that sparks curiosity, nurtures creativity, and supports children’s holistic development. We blend adult-led and child-initiated learning through exciting activities that promote independence and build confidence.
Children take part in ICT sessions, yoga, phonics through music and song, cooking, gardening, music and movement classes, and much more. These carefully planned experiences help children develop communication, problem-solving, physical, emotional and social skills.
We also value the importance of the world beyond the classroom. Local trips to parks, libraries, care homes and supermarkets allow children to connect with their community and apply their learning in real-life settings. Our daily routines create a rhythm that helps children feel safe and secure, while our flexible approach allows them to explore and learn at their own pace. We celebrate all cultures and festivals throughout the year, teaching children to respect and appreciate diversity in a fun, age-appropriate way. Every day at BrightKidz is filled with opportunities for growth, laughter and discovery.
CURRICULUM & EYFS
EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage)
Our approach to early education is grounded in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and supported by the Birth to 5 Matters guidance, which together shape a well-balanced and inclusive learning experience for every child.
The EYFS focuses on seven key areas of learning and development.
We use these areas to guide our planning, ensuring children engage in meaningful activities that reflect their interests, needs and developmental stages. Practitioners regularly observe and assess each child’s progress to tailor learning experiences and support them in reaching their full potential.
With the Birth to 5 Matters framework, we further personalise learning by recognising each child’s unique background, pace of development, and individual voice. Together, these frameworks ensure that your child receives the highest standard of early years education in a warm, respectful and play-rich environment.
7 areas of the EYFS
Communication & Language
We encourage rich conversations, storytelling, songs and role play to help children build strong language and listening skills.
Physical Development
Daily outdoor play, yoga, fine motor activities, and sports sessions promote healthy physical growth, coordination and self-care skills.
Personal, Social & Emotional Development
We nurture children’s confidence, resilience and relationships through small group play, emotional support and positive reinforcement.
Literacy
A love for reading is developed through shared story time, phonics songs, mark-making and access to a wide range of books.
Mathematics
We introduce early maths through fun, practical activities involving counting, sorting, patterns, shapes and simple problem-solving.
Understanding the World
Real-life experiences like visits from community helpers, cooking, planting, and celebrating cultural events help children explore the world around them.
Expressive Arts & Design
Creativity flows daily through painting, music, movement, sensory play, imaginative role play and storytelling.
